Dental Implant Treatment
Husband and wife, Mark and Natalie attended the practice together for consultations in late 2018. Mark had been told previously that he wasn’t able to have dental implant treatment as he didn’t have enough bone in his upper jaw. Both Mark and Natalie had several loose teeth and were in a position where they didn’t go out very much and didn’t smile as they were embarrassed about their teeth.
After listening carefully to their concerns and aspirations we discussed the different treatment options that were available to them. The idea of not being without teeth for any period of time was unappealing to them both. After careful planning with the aid of CBCT scanning available in house, they both elected to go for Immediate Full Arch Load surgery (Teeth in a day). This is where any failed retained teeth are removed, implants are placed and teeth are permanently fixed to the implants all on the same day. Due to Mark’s limited bone, he required zygomatic implants in the upper jaw. These are fixed into the cheekbones and allow patients who may have previously been told they could not have implants to have fixed teeth.
Due to the nature of the surgery, Mark was sedated by our resident consultant anaesthetist who assists us with these cases. After a period of healing Mark and Natalie were fitted with their permanent bridges and, as you can see, they can’t stop smiling! If you are interested in this or any of the treatments we offer including dental implants, zygomatic implants and bone grafting please contact Emmer our Patient Care Coordinator, who will be more than happy to help.
