Mike qualified from the University of Sheffield with honours, receiving the undergraduate prizes in general dentistry and Endodontics. Prior to making the decision to study dentistry, Mike studied to PhD level in chemistry at the Universities of Sheffield and Edinburgh. He gained a competitive scholarship whilst studying in Australia and has had two papers published in scientific journals.
After qualifying, Mike also completed a restorative dentistry course and continues his professional development on an on-going basis. He has completed courses in digital smile design, advanced anterior composite restorations and implant restorations and is aiming towards further postgraduate qualifications in Endodontics and restorative dentistry. Mike gained membership to the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (MFDS) in 2017, the same year as he joined the team at Alex Jones Dentistry.
Mike has established himself as a very well-liked and much respected dental surgeon amongst his patients and his team and is known for his calming chair-side manner.
As well as being highly skilled in providing all aspects of dental treatments, Mike has a special interest in Root Canal Therapy (or Endodontics) and prides himself on many patients complimenting him on the fact that their fears of having dental treatment are quickly alleviated once they begin. Mike’s philosophy is based very much in saving teeth wherever possible and strives to deliver the highest levels of care. He welcomes patients on self-referral and from other dental practices
Mike is married and has a young son, with whom he loves to spend time when not in the practices. He enjoys cycling and plays the guitar in his spare time.
