zygomagtic implants

I was told by other dentists that implant work would not be possible on my teeth. I called in to see Alex and he said corrective surgery would be possible. An amazing team, I felt at ease all the way through. If you are fed up with hiding your smile –Just Do It! – Mark Hodgson

why zygomatic implants?

Zygomatic dental implants are the answer where there is insufficient bone for ordinary dental Implants

We use Zygomatic implants when there is not enough bone for ordinary dental implants. A Zygomatic implant is longer than ordinary dental implants and engage the strong, dense bone that forms the cheekbone. This means that zygomatic implants can be used as an alternative to complex bone grafting operations, where there is bone loss, making it possible to carry out surgery and provide fixed teeth in one visit.

fitting zygomatic implants

Typically two Zygomatic implants are used along with 2-4 ordinary dental implants. Where bone availability is even more limited, four zygomatic implants may be used.

We routinely fit a fixed acrylic bridge on the same day as the implants are placed. Treatment with zygomatic implants is very similar from the patients perspective to conventional Teeth In A Day surgery.

Zygomatic Implant Treatment

The Implant Treatment usually starts by ‘designing’ the teeth by making a ‘set-up’ arrangement of teeth in the new desired position. As patients who need zygomatic implants have usually lost large amounts of supporting bone, this can make a huge amount of difference to appearance, correcting the ‘collapse’ or loss of face height that is often present where dentures have been worn for a long time.

CT Scanning

We use our own CT scanning technology to produce a precise replica model of the upper jaw bone. This allows us to visualise the precise shape of the upper jaw and cheekbone, and pre-plan your zygomatic implant surgery by cutting this model so we know exactly where our implants need to go.

IV Sedation.

To make the experience as comfortable as possible we recommend that all patients having zygomatic implants have IV sedation. We offer both oral and intravenous sedation for our patients who prefer to be less aware during their dental implant treatment.

During your zygomatic implant treatment, IV sedation induces a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of calm. Whilst you will remain conscious and will be able to understand and respond to questions from the dental team, it is normal to not remember very much at all. As a result time will appear to pass very quickly and many patients describe the sensation as having been asleep and ‘waking’ to find their treatment is complete!

Our team are all trained to ensure your time with us is as relaxing as possible

Teeth In a Day

In some cases, dental implants can be fitted in the same day
